Body Art

Body art is a type of artistic design that has something to do with the body. It can be done on the body, with the body or somehow have the human body in it.

While most individuals will think of body art as body tattoos and body piercing, there are many more forms of this type of art form as well. Things like scarification, branding and scalpelling are also considered forms of art. So, is body painting. In fact, there are many more types. With so many types of art to consider, anyone that is looking for a unique way to enjoy art can do so with the use of this form.

Shaping is a type of body art as well. Here, the use of tight fitting clothing such as a corset will keep the body in a specific shape. This is a form of art.

Body painting is simply painting the body with a wide range of colorful products. This can be an all natural product or it can be standard paint. It can be done in many ways too.

There is also a trend in which individuals will do things with their body until they can no longer do them and call this art. One example is that of Marina Abramovic. She would dance until she simply could not any more and would collapse to the ground from sheer exhaustion. Another example is that of Dennis Oppenheim who was well known for his works which would have him simply lying in the sun until his body was so badly burned that only the area of his body covered by a book was not.

Even still, another form of art in this form of the human body is that of performance art, such as dancing and aerobics. This too is a form of art using the body.

Body art is one of the most unique forms of art as it is not necessarily something that is easy to interpret nor is it something that many individuals actually enjoy doing. In some extreme cases, there are forms of art where individuals wound themselves or cause destruction to their bodies in some way. In any case, this type of art is something that is truly enticing only because it is so different and unusual from anything that anyone else has done.
