Tattoo Design Inspiration And Research

A tattoo and the design, in my opinion is an extremely personnel thing, getting marked on the body is not something you should do lightly. I have seen dozens of people go out, get a tattoo on a whim, and live to regret it. In all honesty, most tattooists although most are highly skilled artists lack the passion to come up with something new and exiting for every customer. they fall back to the same set of flash books they have had for years producing the same old tats year in year out. Unless your tattooist is truly in the top ten percent for passion for the art it's going to be down to you buddy, to find the artwork

Tattoo mistakes people make
Unless you’re a total looser you would never pick a tattoo on a whim from the first place you see. You need to look around.

Getting the perfect tattoos can be a painful process and I am not just talking about being inked. All the searching, the hassle of it all going from one tattoo place to another looking at their flash books and not seeing anything you like. On to the next tattoo parlor and then you have enough of all the crap, getting a tattoo was supposed to be easy. Then you do the UNTHINKABLE you settle for something that's not quite right but you have that second rate tat anyway.

Your sitting there in the tattoo chair he's starting up his gun and your looking at the transfer in the mirror and the brains saying " I'm not sure" but what do you do? you ignore it that inner voice. You numb skull!

If the situation that I've just described sounds a little close to home - I am so sorry.
I'm sorry I wasn't around to point you in the right direction to find the perfect tattoo before you made the big mistake. Oh and I'm sorry you’re a numb skull

Sexy Lower Back Tattoos

There are many different tattoo designs out there, but for women the lower back is by far the main choice. There are good reasons for this, first you can hide it, second they can be shown off rather easily, and third they can and often times are, very sexy. Now let me just say that there are many sexy tats out there that are not on a lower back. I saw one just the other day. A lady had a tat over the whole left side of her upper body, and it was very well done. But, we are here to talk about sexy lower back tattoos. There are so many designs that I could never tell you about all of them and I'm not even going to try. Instead I will tell you some of the things my friends and I see and our reaction to them. My goal is to help you find the right tattoo, and maybe give you a man’s eye view.

Let me tell you a story that really happened. Me and a couple of buddies of mine went to the Bass Pro Shop and we were looking at some shotguns and talking about next hunting season. A lady came up and asked a friend of mine if he knew were to find a shoulder pad for a rifle and he pointed to the lower rack right behind us. She said thanks and went a few feet down the isle and kneeled down to look. When she did, you could see a tiny bit of her tattoo. Now no one said a single thing they just looked. So this lady went from being just someone my friend helped to someone of interest. Now please understand we did not chase the lady around. No I swear! But, we did take notice. Now this lady was not ugly and she was not beautiful, she was simply a lady until then. So later we got to talking and she popped into the conversion. We were talking about her tat and a friend said that if they had messed up that tat it could have taken her from eye catching to eye releasing. Dumb man fishing joke I know, but the point is the same.

If you are looking for a sexy tat for your lower back maybe these few tips can help. Please understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There is no set design. To most men, classy is sexy. So on the lower back what catches the most attention is thin lines. Something like a small tribal tat across the panty line. Most of the women I know that have these kind of tats keep them between 4 to 6 inches long. That seems to be the better looking ones. They also keep the height about 1 to1 1/2 inches tall that fade out to the sides. I have also seen tats that follow the curve of the upper butt cheeks and this too is very sexy.

The best thing to do is spend some time looking. When you find a tat ask yourself if it looks elegant or not. If you answer no you will probably be disappointed, but if the answer is yes you will have a sexy tattoo. A word of advice: Pick a good artist. Sounds like common sense right, but you would be surprised at how many people over look this. They should have a portfolio for you to look through. If they don’t, or you don’t like what you see, then you need to leave and go somewhere else. Please let me know what you think of this article at my website. I will try to answer any question you have.

Cross Tattoos - The Symbolic Meaning Of Religious Designs

Cross tattoos are a popular choice if you're looking for a design that's iconic and rich with symbolism. But the origin of the cross design is unknown. The cross is one of the oldest and most basic designs known to humans. It has been used to decorate all manner of things including pottery and cloth for as long as humans can remember.

In ancient times the cross was used as part of the Aztec, Egyptian, Greek and Norse cultures for many centuries. The symbol of the cross was also used by various pagan religions that pre-date Christianity by thousands of years, and as a consequence cross tattoos are almost as old as the cross design itself.

Eventually, due to the rise of Christianity and the cross being a sign of execution by crucifixion, it became a symbol of Jesus's death and subsequent resurrection. The Christian cross (a vertical line intersected at right angles approximately one third from the top) is used by followers to profess their faith and the clergy to bestow blessings. These days Christian tattoos are an exceptionally popular way for people to express their Christian faith

So why are cross tattoos so popular?

The cross design has a number of practical advantages. To begin with, it's widely recognised and socially acceptable in most places. But beyond that it can be scaled to almost any size, placed anywhere on the body and can be combined with virtually any tattoo design. For example, it could be used in conjunction with flowers, words, animals etc to add greater meaning and individuality to the design. For these reasons a cross design is a popular choice of first tattoo with millions of people.

And finally, as already mentioned they convey a wide range of meanings to a wide range of people. However, cross tattoos are not only a sign of religious faith. Due to the number of symbolic meanings that can be held by the wearer of a tattooed cross, one person may use it to represent their religious beliefs while another person may just like the design. However, for the purposes of this article, we'll consider the main types of religious cross tattoo designs.

1) The Latin Cross

The design of the Latin cross is one of the most instantly recognisable in the world. It consists of a vertical line that is intersected at right angles by a shorter horizonal line about one third of the way from the top, and as such is the design most closely connected with Christianity.

This simple cross design is a good choice for a first time tattoo. The design can be scaled to any size, it's socially acceptable, it has a wide range of religious and spiritual meanings and it can be added to by further designs in the future. For example, if you have a basic latin cross, you could add a dove to the design to symbolize peace, you could add a shamrock to represent the Irish culture, or you could add the name and date of death to pay tribute to someone special who has died.

2) The Celtic Cross

Celtic cross tattoos are one of the best looking and most symbolic designs available. The basic design involves a standard latin style or Christian cross with a Celtic knot placed over the area where both lines cross over. Alternatively the border of the cross is surrounded by a series of Celtic knots.

These Celtic knots are designed in such as way that the strands of the design have no beginning and no end. This simple and elegant design is taken as a powerful symbol of the never ending nature of human life, while the knot itself represents the joining together of the physical and spiritual worlds.

The Celtic cross makes a great tattoo design and thanks to its long and symbolic history it is extremely popular among people from Scotland, Ireland and Wales who have pride in their Celtic heritage.

3) The St. Andrew's Cross

The St Andrew's cross differs from the traditional style of cross as it is shaped more like an X than a T. History says that the St Andrew's cross came about after St Peter (who felt he was unworthy of the same death as his Lord) was crucified upside down. St Andrew followed the same belief and so the modified cross became linked to his name.

So these cross tattoos are great if you want to be slightly different from the rest of the crowd. And as St Andrew is the Patron Saint of Scotland, these cross tattoos are ideal for people with Scottish links who want to pay tribute to their ancestors.

Am I An Individual, And How Would I Know.

OK, here's the thing folks, at one time if you wanted to be the bad boy or bad girl you might go out and get a tattoo. It showed to all that you were a rebel. A permanent marker that you had applied to your body to (possibly) garner some respect. Now, a tattoo is a step up from a leather jacket or black biker boots which are easily removed when you feel like blending in again. But a tattoo, now that's a little different story. It always seems like a good idea at the time. I mean, why would you have yourself marked for life if you are thinking -- I don't really think this a good thing to do but what the heck.

So, I have to wonder why is it becoming so trendy for men, women, boys and girls to rush out and -- almost as a right of passage -- have that first tattoo. The barbwire around the upper arm, the nondescript sign just above the buttocks.

Is it so you might have something to talk while having a few beers?

Is it to make you look sexier?

All I know is that I have never seen so many tattoo parlours set up shop so fast and I live in a fairly conservative rural based area.

Now I know that everybody wants to have some semblance of individuality. But with the amount of ink being poked into virtually every part of the human body by someone or another isn't it getting to the point where you are now more of an individual if you DON'T have any type of writing or art on your body.

And another thought that I can't seem to shake from my head is all of these INDIVIDUALS later in life, possible in a retirement or nursing home still wearing that tattoo but now wrinkled and covered with age spots.

Well I guess it could still serve as a topic of conversation, provided your memory is intact.
