How To Be A Tattoo Artist

It seems that more and more people are getting tattoos or talking about getting one. This is great for the industry and even better for those who would like to get a foot in the door in the tattoo industry. But don’t think for a moment that becoming a professional tattoo artist is easy. There really isn’t any such thing as easy money by becoming a tattoo artist.

To begin with, you will need talent. You will never make it in the tattoo industry by tracing or stenciling, you will need to be able to draw great designs. To even get considered as a tattoo artist, a portfolio is needed. This will require you to draw until your hands ache and then a little more. Your portfolio is your proof that you have the skills that are needed to succeed in the industry. Without a portfolio, don’t even bother.

Once you have a portfolio to showcase your talents, you will need a mentor, someone who is willing to teach you the trade and share their secrets with you. Now this is the tricky thing, tattoo artists don’t like giving away their secrets. If you do find someone good, a real professional who is willing to tell you anything at all about the industry, listen up!

In some states you will be required by law to get an apprenticeship and train for a number of years to become a tattoo artist. Unlike a traditional apprenticeship, you will be required to pay the tattoo artist that you are working under a fee and you wont get paid for your work while you are being trained. There is no real time limit on how long you will train. The mentor you choose will tell you when he thinks you are ready to branch off and become a professional.

To train as a tattoo artist, you will need proper, high-quality equipment such as a tattoo machine, power supplies, shading equipment, needles, medical equipment and sanitation supplies. You will also need to know about cleanliness and what can and can’t be reused, as well as how to clean your equipment. The popular professional tattoo artists are successful for a number of reasons, but mainly because they are clean and very talented.

You can succeed in the tattoo industry, but you will need to be talented, self-driven and dedicated. If you want to make millions in the first month as a tattoo artist, you are wasting your time. Become a tattoo artist because you love the art and love to create breath-taking pieces of body art. Be prepared to work for free and, most of all, if you get someone to stop and share a secret or two with you, take their advice. You will definitely need it.

Need A Tattoo Idea or Design?

We all have seen those eye grabbing figures many people wears on their skins. If you are a tattoo fan you may be on the look for an original tattoo you can wear without finding the same design on the arm of every guy you find at every club.

For one reason it seems that most guys and gals prefer and like creepy tattoo designs and ideas. But where can you get the best ideas for these? For example one way of getting great ideas is by watching those big wrestlers on the ring. They usually wear pretty awesome tattoos on their skins, tattoos that translate into an identity, into what their represent on the ring. Maybe your design won’t be the most original by choosing this source of inspiration, but you’ll grab the idea and with some variations you can get a real good tattoo design for yourself. A tattoo that will have an identity.

Of course, there are other sources. One of them is the world of movies. If you love horror movies, then you will be delighted by incorporating some of their stars into your designs (they will always make an eye grabbing tattoo); for example the world famous Freddy Kruger, legendary beasts as Alien, The Thing, Dexter, or even Scream, and Pet Cemetery can make a really good and original tattoo for your preferred piece of skin.

Once you have found a great image with an identity for itself you can translate it into a tattoo, incorporating your own creativity to make your new tattoo all you want it to be.

If you want to visit a huge gallery of tattoo designs, so huge you won’t have time to review all of them in one evening visit:

Tattooed Fish; Cruelty to Animals?

Perhaps you have noticed the new Tattooed Fish for sale, which make a great attraction for an aquarium, unfortunately Fish-Animal Activists say that this is cruel and unusual as they eat their steak from a branded cow during the Super Bowl BBQ weekend. Is tattooing fish really cruelty to animals or cruelty to sea life or fish rather? Well, so far some animal activists are staging a boycott of Pet Stores who sell tattooed fish.

Whoopie Skippy say Entrepreneurs who sell the Tattooed Fish, some with Red Hearts for Valentines Day even or get you favorite NASCAR Sponsor or Football Team Logo on the fish or small shark of your choice? Will this trend continue to other animals too? One animal rights activist, eco-terrorist type, who wished not to be named said;

“Oh today it is fish for the aquarium and tomorrow it will be Dogs, Cats, Lizards, Exotic Birds, which will be run around and shown off as mascots around the house, inciting others to do the same cruel and inhuman things to their own pets. This must stop and we will stage a Boycott!”

It seems however with all the sound and fury over the Tattooed fish, these animal activists are helping the pet store entrepreneurs sell more. One pet store we contacted said that he did not even have to advertise, people were calling him after a Metro Radio station made light of the controversy sparking the debate.

The big question is; will you be buying a Tattooed Fish anytime soon? I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. I thank you for reading my many articles on diverse subjects, which interest you.

Designs of Tattoos

Getting a tattoo is quite a common thing. Whether it is a small one that is placed on the hand, or a huge design which covers an arm or even the whole of the back, whatever it is people love having them. Everyone is different and they will have a different idea as to what they would like on their body.

There are many different types of tattoos which a person can choose from, but a lot of people like to come up with their own designs. That way the tattoo is completely personal to them. So, just what makes people want to have a tattoo then? Well, tattoos can help to give people confidence and some of the designs can look quite eye catching too. It can help to show a person’s personality by the type of tattoo that they have.

The History of Tattoos

When it comes to tradition and rituals, tattoos have been really important for this. They have been used to put symbols on people’s limbs and bodies in order to show certain things about themselves. For instance, women in Borneo tattooed symbols of their trade on themselves which helped to increase their chances of getting married.

Over the years and even today there are many reasons why tattoos have been used, whether it is spiritual, status or just because they like the look of them. Tattoos go back for thousands of years and even early cavemen used to use natural properties to tattoo various symbols onto themselves.

The Tattoos Which Can Be Used

There is literally a non stop supply of designs which you can have tattooed onto yourself. One of the most popular designs includes Celtic and tribal, but generally you can have absolutely anything that you want on your body. It is even possible to have a picture of a person tattooed onto your back whether it is a loved one or a famous person of some kind. These are not as popular but they can be done.

Another common type of tattoo design is Japanese and Chinese lettering. Some like to have words such as ‘love’ or ‘luck’ tattooed on them in Japanese, whilst others prefer their own name. Often if the right type of tattoo artist is not chosen, people end up with incorrect Japanese wording and it may not necessarily say what it was meant to. That is why it is so important to choose a professional who has a lot of experience within their field.

Overall all you need in order to find the right design for you is your imagination. What do you feel drawn to? Do you like certain shapes? Would you like a love heart with a small Celtic design around it? No matter what you want it can be created so look around for inspiration in order to find the right design for you. If you are good at drawing you could even design your own tattoo from your imagination. Whatever you choose to have, there is certainly a design out there for you.

The Miraculous Tattoo

Did you know the future of tattooing is here now? Would you believe me if I told to, right now, you could have your choice of a tattoo that could be permanently removed with a single pass of the laser or a tattoo that would disappear on its own? Surprise the miraculous tattoo! The future is now.

Lets take a look at tattoo problems as they exist today and how the miraculous tattoo can solve them.

Basically tattoo problems can be broken down into two areas. Safety and the ability to be removed sometime in the future. The miraculous tattoo solves both of these problems. Let’s consider safety. Unlike the pharmaceutical, food, or cosmetic industries, the tattoo industry is not regulated by any Federal agency or the FDA. The individual states determine how the tattoo industry is to be regulated.

Since the tattoo industry is unregulated, the constituents of the inks used for tattooing is unregulated. These inks can actually be made of organic dyes, metallic salts, or really anything else which can result in possible allergic reactions to the inks themselves. Now, due to the various ingredients that these inks are made from; if in the future you want to remove these tattoos, with a laser, the possibility of getting 100% tattoo removal is slim to none since there is no uniformity in the ink composition.

There is currently a new ink technology used in the miraculous tattoo that combines state-of-the-art biotechnology to formulate biocompatible and biodegradable, inks for the application in miraculous tattoos. Additionally the exciting, new miraculous tattoo technology, encapsulates the inks and makes tattoo removal easy.

The new miraculous tattoo microsphere technology encapsulates the biodegradable ink in PMMA or polymethylmethacrylate microcapsules. Of course, in these microcapsules are the microscopic biodegradable ink droplets. The beauty of the miraculous tattoo system is the biodegradable ink never touches human tissue. Now, 25 years later, when you decide to get your tattoo removed, all you need is a single pass of a laser to burst the microcapsule containing the biodegradable ink and your tattoo disappears, traditionally.

But that’s not all! Another miraculous tattoo technology is a self disappearing tattoo. The new safe, high tech biocompatible inks used in the self disappearing tattoos is basically a time release ink capsule that simply disappears after time. The biggest advantage of the miraculous tattoo is you get a permanent tattoo, that is really a temporary tattoo that disappears without having to use the laser.

So in summary, we truly have a miraculous tattoo. We now have standardized, biodegradable biocompatible inks, eliminating the possibility of allergic reactions and hazardous materials being introduced into our bodies due to unknown ink constituents. The microencapsulated, biocompatible inks that are easily eliminated by one pass lasers thus getting rid of the permanent tattoo, if you want. And finally, the option of a permanent tattoo that disappears on a predetermined time released schedule.

I think we entered Nirvana!

Tired Of Your Tattoo-How About Tattoo Laser Removal?

There is a new statistic that came out that said 57% of people who have tattoos regret their tattoo and wish for them to be removed. Even though tattoos are one of the most researched topics on the internet lately, many of these people are researching designs that they might like to have. Lots of research is needed to be sure you get a great tattoo design. Without doing the time for research you will pay the price later down the line with the cost of getting a tattoo removed.

Cost for removing tattoos depends on many different factors. If a tattoo is large, colorful, in-depth design, all play a role in determining how much it will cost to get the tattoo removed. Laser tattoo removal is one of the more successful and popular choice but the cost can range up to $120 per visit and usually requiring a minimum of 10 visits. Remember that the cost and time that it will take to get a tattoo removed depends on the design.

Another form of removal is by using a natural herb that is produced in a European country. This way of getting rid of a tattoo obviously will take much longer and the results might not be what you are looking for. The compromise by using this form of tattoo removal is the costs are much lower. Usually a bottle that removes tattoos will cost around $40-$60 but will depend on the size, shape and colors used for the tattoo. Multiple bottles might be needed to remove the tattoo. So it is important to do your research before you get a tattoo that you will have to live with for the rest of your life or be ready to hand out cash to get the tattoo removed.

It's very important to research the tattoo design that you want. Without the time put into research you might find yourself finding ways of getting rid of your unwanted tattoo by laser tattoo removal or by applying other forms of tattoo removal. The cost for removing a tattoo might be a deciding factor on if a person gets a tattoo or not. If 57% of people that have tattoos in the US want their tattoos removed it might show how important it is on researching for your tattoo. Research is the most important time and should take lots of time to find the best tattoo designs.

Tattoos-Popular Tattoo Designs for Girls

Girls are always asking me what tattoos they should get or what I think are the hottest tattoos for girls. Unfortunately there is no clear cut answer simply because there are as many different types of tattoos are there are girls. What one person might find sexy another might consider unattractive or very unfeminine.

Certain styles of tattoos might not suit the image you want to project. For example certain work environments may not accept highly visible tattoos even though tattoos are becoming more and more accepted. It may be wise to hold off getting that sacred heart tattoo emblazoned across your chest if your boss is going to flip out if (s)he sees it!

So in saying that what I hope to do in this short article is offer my insight and experience within the tattoo industry for the past 9 or 10 years and point out the current tattoo trends and what the most popular styles of tattoos are for girls. At the end of the day you want a tattoo that has lasting appeal and not a tattoo that was done on a whim. If I give you some good ideas for your next tattoo all the better...

Trends come and go. What was cool ten years ago is no longer cool. In the nineties certain types of tattoos such as cartoon characters like Betty Boop, barbed wire armbands and dolphins were in. Looking at them now they appear very cheesy and basic.

Tattoo art has come such a long way in the past few years even. Certain styles of tattoos have become perennial and have risen to a point where they are getting the respect and acknowledged they deserve for their intricacy and artistry.

Styles as diverse as Japanese tattoos, Indian/Hindu tattoos, Anime, Traditional American and Floral designs are raising the bar higher and higher and becoming increasingly popular.

Alongside that is the fact that people are beginning to see their skin as a human canvas and not just settling for random tattoos placed haphazardly on a part of the body that is hidden. Nowadays more and more girls are getting larger tattoos and more of them.

This may explain the popularity of Japanese tattoos. In traditional Japanese tattoos each character has a meaning and interacts with the other tattoo designs as part of the whole.

The same is true for Traditional American tattoos. Previously what were once done as individual tattoos from disparate elements of American culture are now being woven into an organic and is more like a story unfolding.

Top Five Most Popular Tattoos for Girls

Irezumi - Traditional Japanese tattoos - More and more girls are asking for large tattoo designs such as koi fish, dragons on their hips, back and arms.

Traditional American tattoos - Old school 'Sailor Jerry' tattoos and images such as classic American cars, pin-ups, swallows and nautical stars are becoming more popular on girls chests, abdomen, back and legs.

Floral tattoos - So many girls are getting flower tattoos as full sleeve tattoos or covering their entire back or legs with floral designs. Flower tattoo designs such as lotus flowers, peonies, orchids, chrysanthemums and flowering vines are the most popular.

Anime - Japanese animation has become massive and doesn't show any sign of disappearing any time soon. As a result Anime tattoos have become popular in the past five years or so. The only risk with Anime tattoo is that unlike other styles will probably age much quicker even though it looks great now.

Indian / Hindu tattoo designs - Like ancient Indian texts and spirituality being rediscovered by people in the West since the 1960's it has been reflected in the demand for Indian tattoo designs. They say everything old become new again.

Finally the most important decision is not to get a tattoo on a whim or choose a tattoo that you think is cute or trendy. Give it a lot of thought. Good art should last. Think of Mona Lisa's smile.

Design Your Own Tattoos Online

It now seems, the only way to get a really good tattoo that you will always love is to design your own tattoo online. Unlike in the nineties, tattoos are now very popular these days and it seems more people are now into getting at least one tattoo on their bodies.

As with everything where there is high demand there is also a need for a high supply. In this case, the high demand for tattoos is directly proportional to the high demand for unique tattoo designs. Most people want a tattoo that is different to everyone else's, and the only way to really do this is to design your own tattoo.

You may be asking, do I really have to go through the whole trouble of actually designing my own tattoos. Can't you just walk into your local tattoo parlour and select from a couple of tattoo designs you like? Well, of course you could do that, but do not be disappointed when you walk in the mall the next day and see someone with exactly the same tattoo as yours.

Yes, tattoo shops usually only have a small selection of tattoo designs you could choose from, but you should really not limit yourself to these only. Do not forget a tattoo is something that is going to stay on your body for the rest of your life, unless you want to shell out extra dollars to get it removed by laser treatment.

Alright then, so what can you do to increase the chances of having a unique tattoo on your body? You could simply find a couple of tattoo designs you like and then take small parts from each one of them to create your own unique tattoo design. Access to a huge database of tattoo designs, will definitely make it easier for you to come up with your own cool tattoo idea.

Where can you get a huge database of tattoos? Glad you asked, and thanks to the internet a quick search on Google will reveal a number of online tattoo databases you can use in just a few minutes from now. I would stay away from the free databases, if you are looking for a super unique tattoo.

Once you have created your tattoo, the next thing is to make sure you get a good tattoist to replicate your design. You might want to shop around a couple of places, observing the tattoists at work and then make your informed decision based on their work.

How Do I Find My Dream Tattoo?

If you have no personal artistic talents picking out the perfect tattoo can be an incredibly difficult process. This design is going to be on your body for the rest of your life, so you need to be 100% sure it’s what you really want. Using tattoo and tattoo design pictures can be a huge help in determining what the perfect tattoo is for you.

If you can see what other people are getting, or planning to get, you might find something that would be perfect for you. Even if you plan on getting a professional artist to do a unique design, you still need to tell him what you want. These tattoo and tattoo design pictures can help you show the professional something similar to what you want. If you are using a quality database there is a good chance you will find something you really like and you can skip the extra fee a professional artist would charge you all together.

You need to beware of some of the free databases that are available all over the internet. If the databases are full of terrible pictures and garbage designs, you may end up getting something that you are embarrassed to show people for the rest of your life. With something so permanent it’s much better to spend a few dollars to make sure it’s perfect, instead of being cheap and being disappointed for the rest of your life.

Another great resource is getting the opinions of other tattoo aficionados. If you have a forum to discuss different tattoo and tattoo design pictures you can get a better idea of what can be done, and how other people feel about different designs. One thing you must be careful of is not allowing other people’s opinion to be the sole decider on what tattoo you get. This is a personal decision, what you want must be the final deciding factor when picking a design.

Deciding what design you will have permanently inked on your body is not an easy decision. Many people are often frozen by fear and never get the tattoo that they so desperately want. Fear should not prevent you from finding the perfect design. There are plenty of great resources available with only a nominal fee. Think of how much better you will feel when you finally find your dream tattoo. The small amount of money you might spend to find it will never give you as much joy as the perfect tattoo.

Ready For The New BIG 3?

The Ford Motor Co. dropped to fourth spot this January. The ailing automaker is now behind General Motors Corp., the Toyota Motor Corp., and DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group. The swift fall happened while the automaker struggles to put a halt to a decade-long decline in its auto market share.

The Detroit automakers' market share in America fell to 50.6 percent in January as they try to avoid selling fewer cars and trucks than foreign companies. Ford’s domestic brands - Ford, Lincoln and Mercury - were outsold by Chrysler’s American brands – Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep. Ford’s American brand sales fell by 19.6 percent which equals to 153,026 vehicles in January while the demand for Chrysler’s brands increased to 156,308 units.

George Pipas, Ford sales analyst, dismissed the fall of the automaker in the rankings as irrelevant. "Where we are in sales races is a distraction we're not going to be bothered with," he said. "(We) are focused on restructuring our business to be profitable at lower volumes," added Mark Fields, president of Ford's Americas Group. "Our customers benefit from this plan because their vehicles' residual values will improve -- a trend we already are seeing with our newest products."

Disarray sales in January include GM, which also suffered a decline in sales. The decline is attributed to the deliberate cut in sales to daily rental fleets. Compared to last year’s numbers, GM’s overall sales reduced by 16.7 percent with 242,252 vehicles. Paul Ballew, GM's executive director for global market and industry analysis, said the company has been weaning itself off the daily rental business for the past couple of years and expects that to continue for several more months. "There's more tough medicine coming on the rental side," he added.

Fleet sales are an easy strategy to improve the market share however they offer little profit. In addition, they also impair the brand by driving down resale values and filling the roads with stripped-down versions of the vehicles. "It's a good sign that they're de-emphasizing fleet," said George Magliano, the director of North American auto industry research for Global Insight in New York. "The business isn't very profitable."

Ford sales to car rental companies decreased by 65 percent than January last year. The overall fleet sales of Ford are only 28 percent, down by 11 percent from last year’s figures. GM’s overall fleet sales were decreased 30 percent year-over-year. Its sales to its daily rental fleets were reduced by about 40 percent. Both Ford and GM also experienced a decline in retail sales last month.

"January was certainly not a stellar month," Ballew said. "We were modestly down from where we expected to be." GM's retail sales were down 8 percent for the month and the automaker is hoping for improved results in the coming months. "DaimlerChrysler has jumped in a big way," Ballew added. "So has Hyundai/Kia."

But Chrysler suggested its rivals were trying to draw away attention from their own problems. Steven Landry, Chrysler's vice president of sales and field operations, said his company's daily rental business was down by 10 percent last month and will continue to fall throughout 2007. "Our overall three-year plan is to continue to bring it down over time," Landry said.

Economists and analysts alike revealed their optimistic predictions in favor of Toyota, the fast-rising Japanese automaker famed for its hybrid technology and efficiency. Its powerful lineup is composed of reliable, tested and quality parts that include EBC brake rotors, airbags, engines and other car engines. Jesse Toprak, chief economist for the Edmunds.com auto Web site, said Ford could pass Toyota again for a few more months — but not for long. “By summer, Toyota will be in the No. 2 position permanently,” he predicted.

Think Before You Ink

Today is the age of tattoos. It seems that everyone has a tattoo, or is planning on getting one soon. You may be trying to decide if you should get a tattoo yourself. This article is going to provide you with a few thoughts to keep in mind if you think you should get a tattoo, and some things you should think about before you accept the needle!

Do not under any circumstances, get a tattoo, because it is the “in” thing to do. Tattoos are for life. The only way that I know of to have a tattoo safely removed is to go to a doctor and have them remove it with a laser. The way I understand it, you are still going to have a scar that covers the area of the tattoo. So ask yourself, if you really want to be scarred for life.

One thing a lot of people do when getting a tattoo is to have someone's name tattooed on themselves. I do not suggest tattooing your girlfriends name on yourself. Let's face it people, whether you think it will happen or not, people break up all the time! I actually know a tattoo artist that would not tattoo names on his customers unless those names where the name of their children, or a loved one that has passed away. Do you really think your new girlfriend Sally wants your ex girlfriend Jane's name on your arm? Think before you ink!

Lots of men seem to think it is cool to have a half naked woman tattooed on their body. Although when you are young, your male friends may think it is awesome, chances are the women in your life will not. You also have to ask yourself if you are ever going to have children. Do you really want to become a father and have your children see a naked woman on your body on a daily basis? I am sure that some people would not mind, but I sure do not want my children seeing it.

The last point to think about, is how this tattoo will look in 30 years. As a person gets older, their tattoos begin to blur. Your tattoo artist should tell you all the ways to keep your tattoo looking good, and part of that will probably be a touch up. Tattoos are for life, so if you are going to get a tattoo, choose wisely.

Tattooes, Chocolates and Love; Get a Heart Shaped Tattoo on Your Tush

When deciding what type of tattoo you want, that is after you have chosen and made the commitment to yourself to get one; next you must decide where you want it and what it will be. You must also decide what you are going to do to forget the pain while getting your tattoo. One way to decide what kind of tattoo to get is to decide what is most important in your life?

If you say that love is the most important thing in your life then perhaps some symbol of love makes sense. Indeed if it is your first tattoo and this is sort of an experiment and a way to insure self-expression, perhaps you might wish to put it in an inconspicuous place; a place where only your lover and you will see it and where it might be hidden from view.

Thus it makes sense to consider; Tattooes, Chocolates and Love together. Eat your favorite chocolate while getting your tattoo and then get a Heart Shaped Tattoo on your Tushy buns. A place which no one will know. Then later on if you wish to get a bigger tattoo then it will not be so much of a big deal for you later on.

Have no fear, get some chocolate and go for it. I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. I thank you for reading my many articles on diverse subjects, which interest you.

Everything You Need to Know About Star Design Tattoos

Not many people think of having star tattoos done, but they can actually look quite good if they are designed properly. You may not think about it, but there are actually a variety of different shapes, sizes and types of star tattoos to choose from and each can look unique in its own way.

It is mainly women who choose to have a star tattoo done; after all, it is not a very manly image! Many women prefer to have the stars quite small on areas such as the hip, just above the breast or on their bottom. Some even like to have them on their ankles or on their neck. Generally though they are small, but it is entirely possible to have a large one covering the whole of your back if you prefer!

What Various Star Designs Mean

As well as looking pretty, star designs do tend to have different meanings. There are 4 pointed stars, 5 pointed stars, 6 pointed stars and so on and each has its own meaning. Some of the most popular pointed stars include:

  • The 4 Pointed Star

The 4 pointed stars are by far one of the most common stars designed today. The points are designed either extremely sharp or quite curvy, depending upon the individual’s personal taste. It is thought that early American native tribes especially liked the 4 pointed stars and they used them on pottery and on rocks as well as in other parts of their lives. So, if you are interested in associating your tattoo with Native American culture, the 4 pointed stars may just be for you.

  • The 5 Pointed Star

If you choose a 5 pointed star, you are usually generally into things such as pagan, the devil or pentagrams. These are another extremely common design and they do have a lot of history behind them. Most types of 5 pointed stars are associated with a dark meaning so if you do not want that, it would be better to have a more comical 5 pointed star design and perhaps stick with a pentacle instead.

  • The 8 Pointed Star

The 8 pointed stars are not generally as common as the others, but it does have a lot of meaning behind them. It is the symbol of the cross of Saint John and it was the emblem of the Knights of Malta. They used the star to symbolize each of the knight’s virtues and those were Tact, Perseverance, Gallantry, Loyalty, Dexterity, Explicitness, Observation and Sympathy. These days the design is common with fire-fighters across America

Overall there are various star designs and each does have its own meaning. So, if you are considering getting a star design, hopefully now you will have a better idea for what to look for.
